Fosso Corno Estate is located in Roseto Degli Abruzzi

Fosso Corno Estate covers 30 hectares on a single hill. From one side of the hill you can admire the deep blue of the Adriatic Sea, whereas towards the west you can enjoy a view of the imposing mountains of the Gran Sasso. This generous land is particularly endowed with a fortunate natural position, and is renowned for its typical wines. The growth of interest in Montepulciano wine produced in the region of Abruzzo, led our family to purchase this estate in 2001. In 2002 all the existing vineyards were uprooted and substituted with new vineyards. Between January and February 2003, 9 hectares of Montepulciano were planted ( R7 clone and AP-MP1 clone) with espalier and with a density of 4500 stumps per hectare. Another 11 hectares were planted between 2004 and January 2005. But the work is not over yet. Our engagement is still going on in making a product of the highest quality. This means serious work of experimental agronomy and vineyard care.Fosso Corno Estate must make itself known as a great interpreter of the most typical wine of this region, the Montepulciano D'Abruzzo. This is our aim for the near future.

Fosso Corno Montepulciano D'Abruzzo D.O.C. Riserva

This Riserva is produced from 100% Montepulciano grapes cultivated in our Fosso Corno Estate . The vineyards from which we produce our Montepulciano D'Abruzzo DOC Riserva are distinguished by the special attention which is dedicated to the pruning. The aim is to limit fruit production and create ideal conditions for the air to circulate around the productive layer of the vines. These are the essential conditions for ensuring perfect ripening of the Montepulciano grapes and also a uniform growing of leaves. During the ageing process, the wine is kept in steel for about 12 months and then in oak barrels of 15 hectolitres for another period of about 12 months. Before being released it is kept bottled for 2-3 months.

"Corno Grande" Montepulciano D'Abruzzo D.O.C. - Fosso Corno

The origin of its name comes from the high peak of the Gran Sasso Mountain, which is also called Corno Grande ( = big horn). Corno Grande is produced from 85% selected Montepulciano and 15% selected Merlot grapes, cultivated in our Fosso Corno Estate in Roseto Degli Abruzzi. The aim is to produce, thanks to the Montepulciano grape, a special wine with a great structure and a delicate elegance which it gets from the Merlot grape. After the maceration, the wine is put in oak barrels of 15 hectolitres for a period of about 8 months. Then it is kept bottled for 2-3 months before the release.

"Mayro" - Montepulciano D'Abruzzo D.O.C. Fosso Corno

The name "Mayro" comes from the latin word "mavrus" , which means black, dark., recalling the dark colour of this wine. Mayro is produced from 100% selected Montepulciano grapes. The maceration lasts 10 days in steel fermenting vats, followed first by alcoholic and then by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then transferred into oak barrels of 15 hectolitres for a period of about 6-8 months. Then it is kept bottled for 2-3 months before being released. Delicate aromas of plum and cherries on the nose, full-bodied in the mouth with a long intense aftertaste.

"Cimabianca" - Fosso Corno

The origin of its name comes from the white snow covered peak of the Gran Sasso Mountain ( Cima Bianca = white peak) which recalls the freshness of this white wine, produced from Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. This blend is intended to emphasize the most typical aspects of both varietals by expressing its fruity character and great freshness. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel tanks by controlled temperature, for about 8-10 days. Delicate aromas on the nose, which recall those of flowers, fresh and vibrant. Delicate in the mouth, plenty of lively fresh fruit and penetrating flavour.

Fosso Corno "Aires" Montepulciano D'Abruzzo D.O.C.

Aires is produced from 100% Montepulciano grapes. The harvest takes place in the period from the end of September to mid October. Maceration for a maximum of ten days, in steel fermenting vats. The wine is then put in steel for about 4 months for the ageing process. Finally it is kept bottled for a short while before being put on sale. Aires is a young and immediately drinkable wine. Delicate aromas of plum and morello cherry on the nose, robust and full-bodied in the mouth, slightly tannin-rich with a dry flavoursome aftertaste.
